Our Vision
A Just Society
A just society is people-centered; the rights and dignity of all are respected and protected.
A just society is inclusive – recognizing the place of women, the importance of youth, the multi-cultural and multi-religious nature of Fiji.
The economy of a just society works for the benefit of all not just the few.
The wealthy of a just society is distributed in such a way that all benefit and poverty is eliminated.
A just society is motivated by communitarian values of compassion, sharing and concern, and is built on the appreciation that all its members form one family.
A just society respects and protects the environment.
Our Mission
Inspired by the vision of Jesus Christ, the Ecumenical Centre for Research, Education and Advocacy exists to strengthen relationships between people of all faiths, assist them in understanding the context in which they live, and empower them to respond appropriately to the challenges of creating and nurturing a compassionate, just and inclusive society.
ECREA achieves its mission by:
• Conducting research on important social, economic, religious and political issues and sharing the results of the research through written materials and educational programs;
• Reflecting on how the Christian faith should urge us to respond to these issues and through consultation and dialogue take appropriate action;
• Raising awareness on current issues of concern in society through workshops, seminars and public forums, and by disseminating relevant information;
• Training communities and their leaders to become more aware of the context in which they live and empowering them to be effective change agents;
• Advocating and lobbying on issues of justice, peace, reconciliation and other important policy matters that affect our lives; and
• Networking with individuals and organisations that share similar objectives.
